CHAUTAUQUA KEYNOTE: Sylvester James Gates Jr. - Tonight at 7:30

  
Internationally recognized physicist Sylvester James Gates Jr. will present a Chautauqua keynote address for Celebration of Science and Mathematics Week titled "Einstein v. Roberts: Does Diversity Matter in Science?", tonight, Thurs. Sept. 14, 7:30 p.m. in O'Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendance slips will be provided for students.

Currently the Ford Foundation Professor of Physics at Brown University, Dr. Gates is one of the most distinguished scientists in America. A pioneer in the fields of supersymmetry, supergravity, and superstring theory, Gates is the author of "Superspace," the first major book on the subject, as well as "Superstring Theory: the DNA of Reality." He has served on the President's Council on Science & Technology, was awarded the National Medal of Science in 2013, and was named "Scientist of the Year" by the Harvard Foundation in 2014.
