EKU Chautauqua presents Bianca Spriggs, giving the annual Black History Month Keynote, "The Only Way Out Is Within: A Poet's Path to Surrender," Thurs. Feb. 9, 7:30 pm in O'Donnell Hall. Free and open to the public. Attendance slips provided.

Affrilachian Poet, Cave Canem Fellow, multidisciplinary artist, and a PhD candidate at UK, Bianca Spriggs of Lexington is the author of 5 acclaimed books of poetry, including Kaffir Lily (2010), How Swallowtails Become Dragons (2011), Call Her By Her Name (2016), The Galaxy Is a Dance Floor (2016) and Undead: Ghouls, Ghosts, and More (2017). Named one of the Top 30 Performance Poets in the country by The Root, Bianca is also the recipient of the 2016 Sallie Bingham Award, a 2013 Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship in Poetry, Artist Enrichment and Arts Meets Activism grants from the Kentucky Foundation for Women, and a Pushcart Prize Nominee.
