Appalachian Heritage Festival-Beans and Greens-Jenny Williams

Appalachia is made up of many diverse cultures and traditions. Stop by Powell Corner between 11:30 – 1:30 to celebrate this diversity and the growing local foods movement in Appalachia through samples and stories with Perry County activist and educator Jenny Williams. With flavors hailing from Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia, and the mountain smokehouses, Jenny will elevate this simple dish of beans-and-greens to a conversation about diversity, community, and local food movement in Appalachia. Featuring local greens from EKU’s Red Barn Garden, and cosponsored by African-African-American Studies, Asian Studies, & Environmental Sustainability & Stewardship
