Forensic Science Seminar: Basics of Fiber Comparisons and Textile Damage

This lecture will focus on the expertise and experiences of a forensic chemist working within the Department of Defense's criminal investigation laboratory and teach the basics of fiber comparisons and textile damage. Together we will walk through the typical way a fiber comparison case is processed from case evaluation to collections and concluding with comparisons. Textile examinations encompass a wide range of different types of cases from sexual assaults to murder. They are an integral examination conducted at most modern forensic science laboratories.
