Decorated historian Robert Darnton of Harvard University will close out the 2017-18 Chautauqua Lecture Series on Thursday, April 19, at 7:30 PM in O'Donnell Hall, with a lecture on "Censorship and Literary Transformation: Bourbon France, British India and Communist East Germany." Robert Darnton is the author of dozens of important books of cultural history, a distinguished Professor of History and Librarian Emeritus at Harvard University, a Trustee of the New York Public Library and the former President of the International Society for Eighteenth Century Studies. His is a recipient of the National Humanities Medal, a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur of France, and a MacArthur "Genius" Award winner.
