ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY: Storm water Awareness

Stormwater is defined by US EPA as the runoff generated when precipitation from rain and snowmelt events flows over land or impervious surfaces without percolating into the ground. In most cases, stormwater flows directly to water bodies through stormwater sewer systems and can contribute and be a major source of pollution to rivers, lakes and the ocean. It is very important that we protect this water source from pollutants.

At EKU we take stormwater quality seriously. If you witness an illicit discharge or an illegal dumping on campus, notify Environmental Health and Safety through emergency dispatch by dialing 9-1-1 or 622-1111.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping campus stormwater pollutant free.
