Philosophy & Religious Studies: Lust and Sin in Abelard's Ethics
Dr. Steve Parchment will lead a discussion on the controversial medieval philosophy of Peter Abelard (1079–1142). Abelard was twice condemned for heresy by ecclesiastical authorities—the first time resulting in the public burning of one of Abelard’s major theological texts, and the second culminating in his excommunication by Pope Innocent II.
