UPDATED MESSAGE:
In accordance with EKU's COVID-19 Policy around events with more than 50 people, the 2nd annual Social Science Undergraduate Research Symposium is canceled. The organizers will still be collecting full papers for consideration for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Student Paper Award and inclusion in published Conference Proceedings. Full papers should be submitted no later than May 10th to alison.buck@eku.edu.
You are cordially invited to present your research at EKU's second annual Social Science Research Symposium. Undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and community members engaged in community research all encouraged to present research and or attend this free event. Presenters and attendees many attend as many or as fifty minute sessions desired. Our theme for this symposium is Health and Justice. We encourage submissions on this theme however, research and discussions of any aspect will be gladly accepted. Awards including a small cash prize will be given for Best Student Papers. Submissions are due March 18th.

The College of Letters, Arts, & Social Sciences (CLASS) is offering a $500 stipend to a graduating student to present a commencement speech at the Spring 2020 Graduation Ceremony. To be eligible, you must have applied for Spring or Summer 2020 Graduation within CLASS. •Speeches should be about 4-5 minutes in length, which is about 3-4 pages of double-spaced text.
•MSWord or Rich Text Format, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, with normal one-inch margins
•At the top of text please include full name, EKU ID number, major, expected degree, and department. Submit speeches before the end of the day March 20, 2020, by sending an e-mail attachment of the text to Dr. Amy Thieme at amy.thieme@eku.edu. The Department of Recreation and Park Administration is assisting the City of Richmond in the completion of a comprehensive master plan for parks and recreation, and your input is needed in shaping the future of this important community service! The master plan online survey will take 20 minutes or less to complete, and your responses will be confidential and anonymous. The last day to complete the survey is April 30, 2020. The award demonstrates the excellence of undergraduate research here at Eastern, as well as EKU Libraries’ contribution to that research. The First place award is $800, the Second place award is $500, and the Third place award is $300.
