ACCESSIBILITY: Emotional Support Animals Have Restricted Access
Emotional support animals (ESAs), also known as assistance animals, assist individuals who may be diagnosed with a mental health issue by providing a sense of comfort. ESAs can be any type of animal. Their purpose is not to complete a job or task for their handler.
Faculty should be aware that unlike service animals, who are permitted on all areas of university property, university buildings and spaces otherwise open to the public, ESAs are restricted from many areas of university property including classrooms. If you have questions or concerns regarding a specific situation, contact the Center for Student Accessibility office. View the policy by clicking "More On This Announcement" below.
