ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY: Safety Signs

Signs are everywhere and it is easy to see them and not even read the text. Safety signs have a purpose and are usually to warn of a potential danger. Be aware of these signs and understand the purpose. Caution, Slow, Pedestrian crossing, Pinch point, Flammable are all examples of signs we see nearly everywhere. These are placed to raise awareness and prevent a potential injury from occurring.

These signs are often mandated to be in the workplace that is true. What is also true is that they are frequently ignored. Please be aware the safety signs that are in your area. These signs could mean the difference between an injury and a safe day. Pay particular attention to fire alarm signs and exit signs and always keep these clear of obstructions.

Remember the next sign you read may be the next sign you need. Think Safe, Work Safe, Stay Safe.
