The New Group Project: Relays as Iterative Collaborative Learning
Group projects offer collaborative learning that provides students a sense of ownership over their work and mimics the team dynamic found in many workplaces. However, in some workplaces, individuals or small teams complete separate sections of a large project in an iterative fashion. Thus a relay-style project was developed where relevant information is passed between groups and expanded at each step. While initially implemented in a forensic science laboratory experience, this session provides analysis of the format's overall effectiveness and other considerations for the application of relay projects to other disciplines.
