EKU Today Help

EKU Today is a web-based email newsletter that provides the University community general interest news and announcements at the beginning of each University work day. EKU Today reduces the number of daily internal mass emails to one and increases the likelihood that announcements are read.

Why EKU Today instead of an announcements listserv?
  1. Users may unsubscribe from the listserv never to be aware of the listserv's announcements again.
  2. User-created rules may throw away ALL email from the listserv owner, not just the listserv announcements.
  3. Even if EKU Today email is thrown away, it can still be viewed on the EKU Today website.
  4. Users can always search for the announcements in the EKU Today website.

At their discretion, the Offices of the President, Provost, Student Affairs, or Public Relations & Marketing may email more urgent announcements separately. Some EKU Today items may be linked to more complete information in the EKU News Center, the online EKUpdate newsletter, or a separate webpage set up by the person submitting the announcement.

While anyone with a web browser can view and search through current and previous announcements, only employees with active EKU faculty/staff email accounts can submit announcements.

Announcements may be submitted and modified no later than 2 p.m. the day before they are to be mass-emailed to EKU employees. Public Relations and Marketing will make every effort to ensure that the announcements are free of typos and grammatical errors. Once an announcement has been published on the EKU Today website, the person submitting the announcement must call Public Relations and Marketing at 622-2301 if more changes are needed before the announcement is emailed with the next day's EKU Today.
EKU Today Policy
  1. Announcements must involve the University in some way. Announcements that will not be considered include:
    1. Announcements for conferences or organizations not sponsored by the University
    2. Business advertisements
    3. Credit Course announcements
    4. Job postings
    5. Messages to limited audiences
  2. Announcements containing information strictly aimed at students will not be published in EKU Today, but should instead be submitted only to EKU Students Today.
  3. Public Relations may edit announcements and may recommend other methods for communicating announcements that do not meet the EKU Today announcement criteria.
  4. Announcements must be submitted by 2 p.m. on the workday prior to the workday they are to be published. Announcements submitted after 2 p.m. will be emailed one workday later.
  5. An announcement may be repeated if it is submitted seven days following its most recent submission. Event announcements may be repeated a maximum of three times as long as seven days separate the announcements; repetition of announcements not involving a scheduled event will be decided by Public Relations on a case-by-case basis. Exceptions may be made for announcements that affect every segment of the campus community.
  6. Employees with active EKU email accounts may submit announcements at https://ssl.eku.edu/prm.eku.edu/ekutoday.
  7. All EKU Today announcements are searchable and archived by day.
  8. There will be no EKU Today mass email for any day for which there are no announcements.
