Add a donation to the Friends of the Center to support EKU Center outreach activities and educational programs, and receive benefits such as preferred parking and early ticket buying opportunities.

EKU Division of Public Safety and the Madison County Emergency Management Agency will conduct an Active Shooter Full Scale Exercise on Tuesday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Emergency response agencies will deploy personnel and assets to work through a simulated targeted violence attack. The exercise area includes the Coates Building, Jones Building, Jones Lot, Crabbe Street and Crabbe Street Lot.

People in these areas will see and hear responder activities. Safeguards will be in place.

Parking Restrictions:

Crabbe Street will be closed on Tuesday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Crabbe Street Lot, the Jones Lot and parking along Crabbe Street will be closed from Monday, July 24, at 6 p.m. through Tuesday, July 25, at 2 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to fill the roles of exercise victims, bystanders, controllers and safety officers.

If you are interested in volunteering for the upcoming Active Shooter Exercise, contact Gary Folckemer at

Targeted Violence Training and Safety Briefings will be held on the following dates and times in Brock Auditorium. Each session will last approximately 30 minutes. Anyone wishing to volunteer for the exercise is required to attend one of these sessions. Volunteers are also required to complete an informed consent waiver.

The following sessions are open to anyone interested in learning more about what to do during a targeted violence attack:

The Datacenter located in the Perkins Building must be completely powered down to allow for a generator upgrade.

Tentative Outage Details:
• Begin Date/Time: July 29, 6 a.m. (IT would start shutdown of affected systems at 6 a.m., power would go down at 8 a.m.)
• End Date/Time: July 29, 6 p.m.
• Area impacted: Emergency power systems, including all UPS, IT Data Center, Fire Alarm, Television (College Cable).

IT has been upgrading the server capacity in the Coates Building, so most systems/servers will remain online during the power outage scheduled for the Perkins Building. These servers normally run in the Perkins Building, but will be migrated to our Coates server farm ahead of the outage.
