Everyone is thinking about fall break, but #EKUHC2017 is just around the corner. Join staff council for these fun events next week.

Wednesday, Oct. 18: Wear your "maroon" shoes day.
Thursday, Oct. 19: Character Day: Dress as your favorite Wizard of Oz character.
Friday, Oct. 20: EKU Maroon Day: Wear your EKU maroon attire. Share your picture on social media with #EKUHC2017, and the group with the most spirit will win a prize from staff council.
Saturday, Oct. 21: Homecoming Parade begins at 10 a.m. Tailgate in Alumni Coliseum parking lot. Game kickoff is at 3 p.m.

The Fitness and Wellness Center will operate on a modified schedule, starting this weekend, for fall break. Below are the hours:

Saturday, Oct. 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 15, 1-5 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 16, Noon-6 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 17, Noon-10 p.m.

Normal hours will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

In accordance with the University's fall break, EKU Libraries will be closed Oct. 14-16. The Main Library will reopen at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17. Both branch libraries and EKU Special Collections and Archives will be closed Oct. 14-17 and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Join us for the 40th Annual Homecoming 5K! The run will lead the Homecoming Parade this year. As the runners approach the finish line, they will burst through the tunnel and fog just like the Colonels do on game day!

Race Date: Oct. 21
Race Start Time: Oct. 21 at 10 a.m.
Online Registration: closes Oct. 16 with T-Shirt for $30, and closes Oct. 18 without T-Shirt for $15.
Race Day Check-In: Alumni Coliseum practice gym (enter front of Alumni Coliseum, and walk left through the doors to the practice gym).
Race Day registration: $35 with T-shirt (while supplies last), $15 without T-shirt, registration will be available from 8 to 9:45 a.m.
Race Day Parking: Upper Commonwealth Lot.
Race Start Location: Lancaster Avenue (in front of Model Lab School).

In this hands-on workshop, participants will think about the role of reading for learning in their courses and practice metacognitive strategies that can help students read with purpose and develop as critical readers. This is a repeat of the session offered on Sept. 7.
