IT is continuing its rollout of new staff computers. These new computers are running Windows 10. Drop in to this training session to learn about the features and tools available in Windows 10 and to learn more about the new staff rollout computers.

Training sessions will be offered on the following dates:

This is a repeat of the sessions offered on Aug. 30 and Oct. 9.

Instructors often report that their students can't or don't read assigned texts in their classes. In this hands-on workshop, participants will think about the role of reading for learning in their courses and practice metacognitive strategies that can help students read with purpose and develop as critical readers.

This session will allow participants to gain a rudimentary understanding of a culturally responsive pedagogy framework that might be effective for educating students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants will explore the principles of culturally responsive pedagogy that can be used to re-frame curricula in the classroom.

Join EKU Libraries on Homecoming Saturday (Oct. 20) for an entertaining talk by America's Funniest Professor. Dr. Carl Hurley is a Hall of Distinguished Alumni inductee, former EKU professor of education, and recipient of the institution's honorary doctoral degree. Reception to follow. Check-in and race-day registration is at the Fitness and Wellness Center from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Pay with credit card, cash or check on race day.

All racers check in at the Fitness and Wellness Center to obtain a race number and timing chip between 6:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. At 7:50 a.m., runners will be escorted from check-in to the starting line.

Join us for an informative session led by Dr. Beth Polin, an assistant professor of management with many years of online teaching experience. During the session, Dr. Polin will discuss the online student unique expectations when it comes to assignment schedule and course due dates in general. After all, they are choosing to take online courses because of the flexibility such courses provide. This session will provide participants with strategies for maintaining pedagogical integrity while meeting the scheduling demands of online students.

Dr. Polin will also discuss the changes she has made to her online courses over the years, specifics related to her successes and mistakes, pedagogy, and student feedback (anecdotal and formal course evaluations).
