The Society of Foundation Professors, in association with the family of the late Dr. John D. Rowlett, invites applications for a major award to be given in memory of the distinguished educator who served EKU for more than four decades. The Dr. John D. Rowlett Award is designed to encourage faculty scholarship, research or professional development. The recipient will receive a $5,000 award.

Application materials are due no later than Feb. 1. The award recipient will be recognized at the annual Foundation Professor banquet in April, and will be expected to provide a short presentation on his/her activities related to the award at the 2020 banquet.

The Society is excited to administer this award that honors the memory and generosity of Dr. Rowlett, a champion of curiosity, creativity and enhanced quality of instruction.

Effective immediately, employees who are covered on the EKU health plan can receive Hepatitis A and flu vaccinations at in-network pharmacy locations at no cost. You will need your Express Scripts insurance card. Note that Walgreens is not currently in our plan's network, but will be effective Jan. 1.

On Friday, Dec. 7 at 3:30 p.m., Richmond Parks and Recreation will use the east side of the Alumni Coliseum Lot (State Police/Begley Building) as a staging area for the annual Christmas Parade.

Commuter permit holders are encouraged to park on the west side of the Alumni Coliseum commuter parking lot (Model) if they anticipate being parked beyond 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7. All vehicles parked on the east side of the Alumni Coliseum will need to be removed prior to 3:30 p.m.

The 2019 Pedagogicon will take place on Friday, May 17, 2019 at EKU. All members of the campus community are invited to submit proposals for consideration on the 2019 conference program. The call for proposals, this year focused on “Transparency in Teaching and Learning,” is available at https://studio.eku.edu/2019-pedagogicon. Proposals are due by Feb. 8. EKU guitarists will present their final concert of the semester on Dec. 6. This concert offers a wide array of solo and group selections, including rock, jazz and classical works. Guitarists from the MUS 107 guitar class will also perform. Several holiday selections are on the program.

The Division of Natural Areas will host the Saturday Morning Science program, where students participate in interactive, hands-on learning experiences.

This week's theme is "Mind Blowing Chemistry." Students will experience a variety of exciting chemical reactions.

The session is designed for students in grades 1-5. The cost is $30 per student, with discounts for multiple students from one family and for attending multiple sessions.

All proceeds benefit students enrolled in EKU's International Environmental Service Learning program.
