E-Campus “PD1 – Introduction to Blackboard SaaS” online course is open and accepting faculty and staff enrollments. This is a self-paced course appropriate for anyone who is preparing to teach online and who wants to learn the tools and functionality of EKU’s Blackboard SaaS.

PD1 is a comprehensive, fully online course that consists of a series of interactive tutorials on how to create and use various Blackboard tools and functions. Topics include early course logistics, course content and assessment creation, course communication, grading, and more. The time commitment for completing this course is between 6-10 hours. The course will conclude on May 3, and it includes optional synchronous help sessions on Thursdays at 11 a.m.

Note: this is a foundational, Blackboard technology class that is a precursor to the IDC’s eight-week Online Course Development and Teaching Certificate Program (PD2).

Instructors often report that their students can't or don't read assigned texts in their classes. In this hands on workshop, participants will think about the role of reading for learning in their courses and practice metacognitive strategies that can help students read with purpose and develop as critical readers. This session will be offered again on Sept. 23.

If you are an EKU tenured or tenure-track faculty member who has secured at least one externally-funded award in the last five years, consider applying for funding through the new Research Enhancement Grant (REG) program. The program supports activities in three tracks: research project support, publication development support, and grant proposal development support. Eligible faculty may propose support in one or more tracks for a single academic term, and student involvement in all tracks is encouraged.

The Statistical Consulting Center (SCC) is a free service of EKU's Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The SCC provides consulting for faculty, staff, and students with statistical needs. The center is staffed by Dr. Daniel Mundfrom, Dr. Michelle Smith, and applied mathematics graduate students. The SCC can provide assistance with research design, sample size and power calculations, statistical modeling, data management, statistical analysis, interpretation of results, and more.

Starting today Aug. 15, and running through Oct. 10, the Farmers Market will be located at the Irvine McDowell Park on the corner of Lancaster Avenue and Crabbe Street.

The fall 2019 group fitness schedule is now available. Click "More On This Announcement" below to see classes, dates, and times.

To participate in group fitness classes this semester, you must register and sign the waiver. Once registered, you will be given access to all group fitness classes for the semester. Signing the waiver in advance will ensure that you can pre-register and attend classes on the first day of school.

To sign the waiver online, go to http://mycampusrec.eku.edu > Group Fitness Fall 2019 > Waiver. You may also register at the front desk. Keep a copy or screenshot of your signed waiver until you have been given access. There may be a couple of days delay between registering and gaining access.
