E-Campus “PD1 – Introduction to Blackboard SaaS” online course is open and accepting faculty and staff enrollments. This is a self-paced course appropriate for anyone who is preparing to teach online and who wants to learn the tools and functionality of EKU’s Blackboard SaaS.

PD1 is a comprehensive, fully online course that consists of a series of interactive tutorials on how to create and use various Blackboard tools and functions. Topics include early course logistics, course content and assessment creation, course communication, grading, and more. The time commitment for completing this course is between 6-10 hours. The course will conclude on May 3, and it includes optional synchronous help sessions on Thursdays at 11 a.m.

Note: This is a foundational, Blackboard technology class that is a precursor to the IDC’s eight-week Online Course Development and Teaching Certificate Program (PD2).

Participants are encouraged to schedule five professional development (PD) activities and join High Five for Student Success. Our goal is to offer a holistic approach to fostering student/instructor success by reflecting on teaching practices, classroom management, and tips for retention. Through face-to-face and online participation, participants will learn strategies for success and become members of a community of engaged teachers.

There will be a reception for the current exhibition, The Faculty Biennial on Thursday, Sept. 5. Studio faculty in the Department of Art and Design will show their most recent work, which includes basketry and furniture, ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
