MATH/STATISTICS COFFEE TIME: Devising Divisibility Rules for Fibonacci Numbers

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics will hold its first Coffee Time event of 2022-2023 at 2:30 p.m. on September 21 with graduate student Claire Hollins, who will present "Devising Divisibility Rules for Fibonacci Numbers."

The Fibonacci sequence, being one of the most famous recurrences, has vast amounts of research behind the numbers. However, the more research collected, the more questions are posed. How do the Fibonacci numbers relate? Do patterns of divisibility exist within the numbers? What does the greatest common divisor of two Fibonacci numbers state about divisibility? We will discuss the rules the Fibonacci numbers hold and how to derive them.

Coffee and cookies will be provided.

Email Lisa.Kay@eku.edu for Zoom information.

Event Date: September 21  2:30 p.m.  Location: Wallace 344 & Online  Cost: Free
