Siren Tests on Sept. 14 at 10 a.m.
Madison County EMA/CSEPP will be conducting tests of the new outdoor warning sirens in Madison County. A sound check is scheduled for September 14th, at 10:00 a.m. This test will last 3-5 minutes and will consist of a short "Growl" tone. These sounds do NOT indicate an emergency and NO action is required of the public. Tests will NOT be conducted if severe weather is expected.
Residents should note these important upcoming changes to the outdoor warning siren system:
• New sirens will *not* have voiceovers after the warning sound
• New sirens will only alert for tornado warnings – sirens will NOT sound for any watches, nor for thunderstorm warnings
• New sirens will use three tones:
o Test tone: a high wail lasting 30 seconds
o Tornado warning: a high wail lasting 60 seconds
o Chemical emergency: an alternating high and low siren lasting 60 seconds
Event Date: September 14 10:00AM Location: Throughout Madison County
