Sara Incera
"Using Data to Uncover the Bilingual Mind"

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHEJAfMIlXc Sara Incera is assistant professor of Psychology and a Principal Investigator in the Multilingual Laboratory at EKU. She teaches courses in Research Methods and Cognitive Psychology. Her research interests include cognition, bilingualism, foreign accents, second language acquisition and language development across the lifespan, and her work has been presented in national and international venues. Dr. Incera completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain, and spent a year at University College Cork in Ireland. Sara went on to earn another Master’s degree and then her Ph.D. at Cleveland State University, where she also spent a year as a Postdoctoral Researcher prior to arriving at EKU in 2017.

Scholar’s Tank is an entrepreneurial-themed addition to Scholars Week, where students and faculty can present an idea to improve some aspect of campus that has the potential to be turned into an entrepreneurial venture. Our campus entrepreneurs will pitch their idea to a panel of “sharks" who will decide which idea gets funded. The winner will be awarded $5,000 to take their idea from concept to concrete results. Watch your idea grow into something that has a positive impact on the university. These can be individual or group projects. For more information, click "More On This Announcement" below.

Consider Applying to be a First-Year Leader (FYL)
Deadline to Apply: April 1, 2021. First-Year Leaders are high-achieving students, role models, and mentors inside and outside the classroom through the Office of First-Year Courses. FYL’s are assigned to be a peer mentor within a GSD 101 – Foundations of Learning Freshmen Seminar Course where they will attend the class to offer support to first-year students. If selected to be a FYL, students would take a leadership course, GST 300 “Principles of Peer Mentoring/Tutoring,” and receive training throughout the semester along with accompanying an instructor in the classroom. Move the Tissues is trauma-informed yoga for trauma survivors. The Kentucky Center for Veterans Studies (KCVS) regularly invites individuals with unique perspectives on veterans’ issues to speak to classes and the larger campus community. Join us for a talk with Kristin Gallagher, Readjustment Counselor at the Lexington, KY VET Center. Kristen will explain how she developed the cultural competency needed to serve veterans over the past decade.
