One way to reduce your impact on the environment is by recycling, but it can be a bit confusing. Attend our in-person or virtual workshop to learn about the basics and some common misconceptions of recycling. The in-person workshop will be in the science building room 3119, at 6pm on Monday, March 22nd. The virtual one will be the same day, at 7pm on Zoom. EKU Housing & Residence Life is currently collecting pairs of shoes and stories anonymously from faculty, staff, and students about their mental health journey that will be displayed on campus at the S.H.O.E.S event. If you would like to donate any shoes, a collection box is currently placed in the Residence Hall lobbies and Whitlock lobby until March 26th. If you would like to share a story click on “More on This Announcement” and follow the instructions on the page. Please be on the lookout for more updates about the event. This event will take place on April 8, 2021, Lower Powell Plaza from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. This event is focused on mental health and raising awareness to the struggle’s students face every day. This concept was originally developed and implemented by housing staff at East Carolina University and is being modified to meet the needs of our campus community.

Being isolated in quarantine can lead to spending a lot of time on various activities that take your attention away from the present moment. Practicing mindfulness can be a great opportunity to improve your mental health by challenging yourself to be present and aware of your thoughts and feelings. In this workshop, you will learn tools that can help you practice mindfulness and work towards reducing and preventing stress, anxiety, depression, as well as many other concerns you may be experiencing.

The College of Letters, Arts, & Social Sciences (CLASS) is offering a $500 stipend to a graduating student to present a commencement speech at the Spring 2021 Graduation Ceremony.
