Tyson School of Medicine. Though biology was his original plan, a bright mind and mentorship from EKU faculty helped Derrick Morton find his path. Named as one of the "100 inspiring black scientists in America" by Cell Press Cross Talk and a "rising star in the biomedical world," by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Morton is committed to his profession and paving the way for underrepresented students in the STEM disciplines. The Veterans Studies Service to Service Podcast is "the show that helps you understand veterans one story at a time." In this first episode, host Samuel Lewis talks to Roman Baca, a USMC veteran and founder of the Exit 12 Dance Company. Exit 12 incorporates military themes, stories, and movements to explore veterans' experiences and translate them into art for audiences around the world. And for many who take part, the performance itself is therapeutic. Pathfinders is an affirming weekly support group for students who are first generation college students. At EKU, a student is considered "first gen" if they are the first in their family to attend a four-year university or if neither of their parents/guardians have completed a bachelor’s degree. Some first gen students may have older siblings who have attended college. This virtual group is provided by the EKU Counseling Center and is hosted through a secure video platform.

Join the EKU Counseling Center staff today for a workshop on Distress Tolerance. When life feels like you’re currently in the middle of an unfinished Jumanji game, your emotions can activate with a high degree of intensity. Changes in your daily routine and the people you’re around can lead to a mixture of emotions. These new experiences can be stressful. The tools provided in this workshop are aimed to provide you with skills to navigate these intense emotions and increase the positive experiences throughout your day.
