Every Wednesday the LCUH Department Conversation Club "La mesa de español" come together to talk about a variety of cultural aspects of a designated Spanish-speaking country. This is an activity designed to provide all students and EKU community an opportunity to learn more and spontaneously practice their Spanish. The Statistics Club/Mu Sigma Rho and Sports Analytics Club will host a presentation by EKU alum Eric Rannenberg: "Airplanes, Horses, and Hunting Terrorists: Conventional Wisdom Is So Often Wrong." Every day we are bombarded by opinions about how to look, how to act, and what to believe. We are told opinions that are masked as truth and conventional wisdom which adds noise to the signal. As a Data Scientist, Rannenberg has spent the past 18 years asking, “why?” Along the way, he discovered that assumed truths are not always what we were led to believe. The speaker will discuss examples related to techniques taught to military pilots, the role of physics and machine learning in making it harder for aircraft manufacturers to hide “donuts”; the connection between ranking players in video games and picking a winning racehorse, and terrorists. Support without Borders is an affirming support group for multicultural students and international students. This is a weekly virtual support group provided by the EKU Counseling Center and hosted through a secure video platform. This group is for individuals that have been negatively impacted by growing up in an alcoholic, drug addicted or otherwise unpredictable family environment. Topics often discussed include understanding the impact of these family patterns, learning how to recognize and develop healthy relationships, and addressing negative beliefs about oneself. Move the Tissues is trauma-informed yoga for trauma survivors. This group incorporates restorative yoga poses and movements to gently support survivors as they move through the process of trauma recovery. EKU's Giving Day is next Wednesday, April 14! Join fellow students, alumni, employees, and friends of EKU in the mission to have 1,000 donors in 24 hours. When we are stressed, it can be hard to operate at our best. When we are stressed and then have to complete tasks that will be graded or evaluated, it can feel impossible to be our best. This workshop focuses on ways to improve test anxiety, improving personal motivation for the things that need to get done, as well as how to set effective and attainable goals. Join EKUCC clinician Nick Rogell, LPCC, for this workshop on how to improve your personal performance.

Join the staff of the EKU Counseling Center today for a Workshop on Emotional Regulation. Regardless of whether you’re at home or school, every day we can experience a wide range of emotions. This workshop will focus on the most scientifically backed methods of managing your emotions, provide activities and tools that can help you feel more grounded and in control of your emotional functioning.

The Kentucky Center for Veterans Studies (KCVS) regularly invites individuals with unique perspectives on veterans’ issues to speak to classes and the larger campus community. Join us for a talk with Moe Armstrong, a decorated combat veteran of the US Marine Corps. Mr. Armstrong uses his recovery and education to help others struggling with mental illness. He has set up peer support networks across the country, including the “Vet to Vet,” a program at Errera Community Care Center. Vet to Vet that uses education, peer mentoring, and writing to help those on the path to recovery. Come hear Moe’s story. All are welcome! Register where it says “More” below.
