Randolph M. Nesse is Research Professor of Life Sciences and Founding Director of The Center for Evolution and Medicine at Arizona State University, and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry, Psychology and Social Research at The University of Michigan. He was the initial organizer and second president of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society and was the Founding President of The International Society for Evolution, Medicine and Public Health. The author of two influential books on evolutionary medicine and psychiatry, Dr. Nesse is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Sciences, and an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. EKU First-Year Courses, the Department of Psychology, and Women and Gender Studies are offering the second series of “Colonels Create” workshops beginning on September 30th, 2021. This year we specifically want to invite students who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies! The event is FREE and all are welcome.
We will learn mindfulness techniques while participating in a therapeutic, expressive arts exercise that will culminate in a mural representative of the resilience and inclusivity found among LGBTQIA+ students at EKU.
