Nesse is Research Professor of Life Sciences and Founding Director of The Center for Evolution and Medicine at Arizona State University, and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry, Psychology and Social Research at The University of Michigan. He was the initial organizer and second president of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society and was the Founding President of The International Society for Evolution, Medicine and Public Health. The author of two influential books on evolutionary medicine and psychiatry, Dr. Nesse is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Sciences, and an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Learning to belay is an important part of the climbing experience at the EKU climbing center, or outside at any natural cliff face. This clinic teaches participants about equipment, knots, climbing skills, belay technique, catching falls, and lowering climbers; all with plenty of practice. Participants who have completed a workshop may then complete a free belay skills assessment to belay independently at the climbing wall.

Join the EKU Counseling Center staff today for a workshop on Distress Tolerance. When life feels like you’re currently in the middle of an unfinished Jumanji game, your emotions can activate with a high degree of intensity. Changes in your daily routine and the people you’re around can lead to a mixture of emotions. These new experiences can be stressful.
