Mental Health Screening Day is an event put on by the counseling center, to help students better understand their mental health needs. During this event, EKUCC professional staff will be encouraging students to complete brief questionnaires, which will be scored with the student. Our Professional staff will review the results of the screening and provide individual feedback regarding interventions and supports that can help students better manage any identified symptoms. Join your fellow student veterans and servicemembers for a stress management workshop, and "Leave It." Starting September 15, students will have an opportunity to learn ways to manage stress and anxiety through painting, yoga, journaling, and rock-climbing workshops. There is no cost to participate, and all supplies are provided. Attend one session, or attend them all! There is no limit to participation. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 pm. The EKU Service to Scholars Peer Sponsorship program is a volunteer program designed to provide help and support to incoming student veterans transitioning from military service to college life, by connecting them with other experienced student veterans who have “walked the walk” recently, and want to help others do the same successfully. When life feels like you’re currently in the middle of an unfinished Jumanji game, your emotions can activate with a high degree of intensity. Changes in your daily routine and the people you’re around can lead to a mixture of emotions. These new experiences can be stressful. This group is for individuals that have been negatively impacted by growing up in an alcoholic, drug addicted or otherwise unpredictable family environment. Topics often discussed include understanding the impact of these family patterns, learning how to recognize and develop healthy relationships, and addressing negative beliefs about oneself.
