Thomas J. Misa recently retired as Professor of the History of Technology at the University of Minnesota, where he directed the Charles Babbage Center, taught courses in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine and was a member in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. His many books include the acclaimed Leonardo to the Internet: Technology and Culture from the Renaissance to the Present, just re-published in an updated 3rd edition by Johns Hopkins, as well as Fast Lane: Managing Science in the Internet World, A Nation of Steel: The Making of Modern America, 1865-1925 and the edited collections, Gender Codes: Why Women are Leaving Computing and Modernity and Technology. The Alphabet Center is sponsoring a special Green Dot presentation geared specifically for the LGBTQIA community. Women & Gender Studies Prof. Ashton Chaffins will be presenting and will not only provide information about violence but also will prepare audience members to be a better bystander within the LGBTQIA community and a better ally if you're not part of the community.

Join the staff of the EKU Counseling Center today for a workshop on Mindfulness. Being isolated in quarantine can lead to spending a lot of time on various activities that take your attention away from the present moment. Practicing mindfulness can be a great opportunity to improve your mental health by challenging yourself to be present and aware of your thoughts and feelings. In this workshop, you will learn tools that can help you practice mindfulness and work towards reducing and preventing stress, anxiety, depression, as well as many other concerns you may be experiencing.
