Next Week is Open Access week, which aims to make Open Access the new norm in scholarship and research. You are invited to join EKU Libraries and the Department of English for the official book launch of EKU’s ENG 101 open textbook, The Commons. Funded by a $5,000 Board of Regents Innovation Alternative Textbook Grant, The Commons was edited by Dr. Jill Parrott, Dr. Dominic Ashby, and student Jonathon Collins. Annually, this text will be used by approximately 2,500 students taking ENG 101 - Reading, Writing, and Rhetoric, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Book Smart program and providing students with quality content that you will be able to access for years to come. If you are a current student taking this class, we’d love to hear about your experience, so mark your calendars and join us for this event. Light refreshments will be served.

In celebration of American Archives Month, EKU Libraries is excited to highlight our very own Special Collections and Archives, which collects primary and secondary sources to support the research needs of EKU students, faculty, and the community. While the collections focus generally on Kentucky subjects, national and global topics are also represented. Discover these materials through three databases: the Primary Sources Database includes finding aids to over 480 collections of manuscripts and University records; the Digital Collections Database contains selected images, documents and publications; and the William H. Berge Oral History Center houses almost 5,000 oral history interviews.
