It's almost time for the annual Herstory Conference, and that means it's time to submit an application and proposal for the Charlotte Schmidlapp Essay Contest (if you're interested)! There are prizes of $1500, $1000, and $500 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively. Please download the application at http://wgs.eku.edu/scholarships and submit the application with your proposal to Dr. Lisa Day at lisa.day@eku.edu by noon on March 10th. Award winners must be undergraduate students with a Fall 2023 or later graduation date.

Did you know that stigma and discrimination can negatively affect the health and well-being of the LGBTQIA+? In order to spread more awareness to this concept, the Social Work Department is conducting research and would love to hear from you regarding your experiences with stigma! The 27th Annual Environmental Health Symposium is here! We have a lineup of speakers from USPHS, National Park Service, FDA, Bechtel, and Lockheed Martin ready to talk about their experiences and possible career opportunities for graduates. Students may attend for free, or pay $10 for a light breakfast and a lunch from the local restaurant Jackson’s! A raffle for EHS T-shirts/crewnecks will also be available at the end of the symposium. Learn the skills needed to strengthen your current relationships, build satisfying relationships, and balance change with acceptance. This is a weekly drop-in skills group: just show up! This group is for individuals that have been negatively impacted by growing up in an alcoholic, drug addicted or otherwise unpredictable family environment. Topics often discussed include understanding the impact of these family patterns, learning how to recognize and develop healthy relationships, and addressing negative beliefs about oneself. This is a weekly group provided by the EKU Counseling Center. A group orientation is required to join this group.
