When a student finds themselves or another student’s safety at risk due to the use of alcohol or other drugs, they should contact the EKUPD immediately for medical assistance. Formal disciplinary action for violations of paragraphs 30, 31, and 32 of the Student Code of Conduct will not be enforced provided the involved students meet the criteria for amnesty. You won't be punished for helping a friend. If someone needs medical attention because of drugs or alcohol, they and you are protected by medical amnesty. Just call, stay, and cooperate. In recognition of September 2023 as World Suicide Prevention Month, there will be the screening of the Documentary on Kevin Hines, suicide survivor and nationally renowned spokes person on suicide prevention. This is an effort to build awareness, and education to promote mental health and suicide prevention on our campus. Due to a multiple day event, parking restrictions will be enforced at the EKU Center for the Arts from midnight Sunday, September 10 through Midnight Thursday, September 14. Grief is a normal and natural response to loss. It can also feel overwhelming, lonely, and complicated. Grief Group is safe space to receive support, learn to cope, and to connect with other students who are also adjusting to the death of a friend, family member, or loved one. This weekly in-person group is provided by the EKU Counseling Center. A group orientation is required to join this group.
