9/11: Community Memorial & Moment of Silence
Eastern Kentucky University will mark the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy with by beginning the day with a Community Memorial Ceremony. Leaders in our community will offer reflections on the day including remembrances offered by EKU Executive Vice President, Dr. Laurie Carter, Richmond Mayor Jim Barnes, and Dr. Bryan Cole the Director of Military & Veteran Affairs.
If you are not able to attend, we encourage all observe a moment of silence at any or all of the following times marking key moments on 9/11:
8:46 am: Flight 11 crashes into the North Tower (1 WTC)
9:03 am: Flight 175 crashes of the South Tower (2 WTC)
9:37 am: Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon
9:59 am: The 2 WTC collapses.
10:03 am: Flight 93 crash the plane into an empty field near Shanksville, PA following passengers attempt to retake the plane
10:28 am: The 1 WTC collapses
