How does race impact politics?

Dr. Cathy Cohen has devoted her career to shedding light on that timely question, and she will share her insights at her Chautauqua Black History Month Keynote Address, “Do Black Lives Matter? Race and the Politics of Death,” on Thurs. Feb. 18, 7:30 pm in O’Donnell Hall. Free and open to the public. Attendance slips will be provided.

As David and Mary Winton Green Professor of political science at the University of Chicago, Cohen specializes in American politics, with research interests in African-American politics, women and politics, lesbian and gay politics, and social movements. She is the founder of BlackYouthProject.com, author of “Democracy Remixed: Black Youth and the Future of American Politics” and “The Boundaries of Blackness,” and co-editor the Oxford Press series, “Transgressing Boundaries: Studies in Black Politics and Black Communities.”
