Fawn Capture

KDFWR has an opportunity the beginning of summer with fawn capturing!

The period in which we would need help will be during May 15 and June 15. Unfortunately, food and lodging will not be provided. The drive from Richmond to Oneida is about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Ways to capture fawns:

1) during the winter capture of the adult does we insert Vaginal Implant Transmitters (VIT’s) and during fawning we listen to the signals from the individual VIT’s to determine if the doe has giving birth. We will use telemetry to locate the fawns.

2) stomp method - line up across fields and walk the entire field looking for any fawn to grab.

Some days are very successful in capturing fawns and others are not,

You all will be meeting with Kyle Sams in either Oneida (at the post office) or Red Bird (at the Red Bird field office)

Event Date: May 15  Location: Oneida, Clay County, Kentucky  Cost: Free
