Opening CHAUTAUQUA Lecture, Sept. 1 - Nancy Nyquist Potter: "Heroes, Mavericks and Psychopaths"

  
University of Louisville professor of philosophy, psychiatry and medical humanities Nancy Nyquist Potter opens the 2016-17 EKU Chautauqua Lecture Series on the theme of "Order and Chaos" with her lecture, "Heroes, Mavericks and Psychopaths: The Virtue and Vice of Defiance," based on her new book from Oxford University Press, "The Virtue of Defiance and Psychiatric Engagement." Potter's previous books include “Mapping the Edges and In-Between: A Critical Analysis of Borderline Personality Disorder” and “How Can I Be Trusted? A Virtue Theory of Trustworthiness.”

Nancy Potter has taught philosophy at the University of Louisville since 1995 and is a past president of the Association for the Advancement of Philosophy and Psychiatry, where she continues to serve on the executive council.

Free and open to the public. Attendance slips provided for students.
