CHAUTAUQUA - Joy Harjo - poet, musician, educator - Native American Heritage Keynote - Thurs. Nov. 3

  
Joy Harjo, internationally known poet, performer and educator, will present the Native American Heritage Month Keynote Address, “Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings,” on Thurs Nov 3 at 7:30 pm in O’Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building.

Harjo, of the Mvskoke/Creek nation, is the author of eight poetry collections, including "Conflict Recolution," "How We Became Human," "The Woman Who Fell from the Sky," and "She Had Some Horses," and the acclaimed memoir, "Crazy Brave." Harjo has received many awards for her work, most recently the 2015 Wallace Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets for "proven mastery in the art of poetry."

Harjo is also a renowned musician, playing saxophone solo and with her band, The Arrow Dynamics, nationally and internationally. Her CD release, "Winding Through the Milky Way,” won the Native American Music Award for Best Female Artist of the Year 2009.
