Today is the 45th annual Earth Day! Stop by Powell corner between 11-2 p.m. today for the Earth Day kickoff celebration with Student Life, Campus Rec, Office of Sustainability, Animal Science club, among others! Bring your own shirt for the DIY tie-dye station, blend your own smoothie WITHOUT electricity, then climb trees in the Ravine with Campus Rec! From 3-5 p.m. join or listen in on the long anticipated EKU Energy Forum hosted by Environmental Health Sciences Dr. Jason Marion in New Science 5101. Later on, DON'T MISS Green The Ravine from 4-7 p.m. hosted by Green Crew in the ravine with live music, free pizza, awesome gifts for scavenger hunt winners, and more! Come join Student Life & Campus Recreation at our annual event as we Paddle Out Pollution on the Kentucky River! We will be picking up trash along the banks and in the river, in the Irvine Pool. The event is free and open to any EKU student. Canoes and equipment will be provided. Lunch will be provided by Raiders Restaurant. Vans will be leaving from the Fitness and Wellness Center Saturday Morning. Estimated departure time is 10:00 AM but may change based on weather forecasts.

Celebrate Earth Day today by attending a panel discussion regarding future energy options for EKU's energy infrastructure. Join four leading experts regarding future options for heating, cooling, and powering our campus. The keynote speaker, Joe Harrell, AVP of Utilities at the University of Cincinnati, will discuss the pros and cons of their award-winning cogeneration plant. Other panelists include Aron Patrick, Director of Energy Development and Independence for the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet; Bill Bissett, President of the Kentucky Coal Association; and Steve Wilkins, Co-Chair of the East Kentucky Power Co-Op Clean Power Power Collaborative and Coordinating Committee Member of the Kentucky Sustainable Energy Alliance. Attendance verification letters provided. Persons needing to leave early for Green the Ravine at 4 p.m. will be accommodated.

Register for the 2015 Summer Service Trip to New Orleans! This is the 6th annual Summer Service trip to New Orleans, on the 10th anniversary of the Hurricane Katrina. Dates: Sunday, May 17th - Sunday, May 24th. Volunteer Partner: We will be working with the St. Bernard Project (http://www.stbernardproject.org/) to restore homes from the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, Cost: The trip will be $300 per person (this includes most meals, travel, and lodging). Any students registered with the Office of Services for Individuals with Disabilities for testing accommodations who intend to take final exams in the OSID offices must schedule their final exams no later than Wednesday, May 6th, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. Late scheduling may only be done by permission of the Testing Specialist. Exams may be scheduled by using the sign-up sheet in Whitlock 357, emailing steven.taylor@eku.edu, or by phone at 622-2933. When phoning or calling, please provide as much information as possible about the exam to ensure quicker scheduling; missing information may prevent you from being properly scheduled.
