The College of Arts and Sciences is offering a $500 stipend to the graduating student chosen to give their speech at the Fall 2015 Graduation Ceremony!! Graduating Seniors and Master Degree Candidates in the College of Arts & Sciences are invited to submit a proposed speech to be presented at the 2015 Fall Commencement Ceremony. Proposed speeches should be about 10 minutes in length or 5-6 pages of double-spaced text. Speeches should be submitted as an email attachment in MSWord or Rich Text Format and include double-spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. The top of your text should include: your full name, EKU ID number, major, degree, and department. To be considered, please submit speeches by the end of day Tuesday, October 20, 2015, as an email attachment to Dr. Jennifer Spock. Interviews will be conducted October 22, 2015.

Students Design the New Sustainability Image – Oct. 1 – 31st October is Sustainability month and EKU wants to celebrate by kicking off the newly created Office of Sustainability with a fresh new identity. Students, submit your drawings and digital designs for the new EKU Sustainability image by at:
http://sustainability.eku.edu/re-branding-sustainability-contest and automatically enter to win prizes! All participants will receive this awesome “Re-Solo” cup. The winner, as selected by the Sustainability Manager and Responsible Environmental Stewardship Committee (RESC) will have their design incorporated into the new sustainability image and receive a foldable solar device charger and an EKU swag bag worth $50! Reserve your spot for the annual overnight leadership experience, Fall Leadership Retreat! This experience is a wonderful opportunity for emerging to seasoned leaders to expand what you know about yourself as a leader and have a ton of fun in the process. Our retreat will focus on exploring excellence, empathy, and making decisions as leaders in many fun and exciting ways. Need a little incentive to work out this fall? EKU Campus Recreation is hosting its' annual IronMan challenge October 1-31 at various facilities around campus. During the month complete 2.4 miles of swimming plus 112 miles of biking plus 26.2 miles of running. Log your distances on our website each day, and earn a T-shirt at the end of the month. No registration is necessary, just log your distances to get fit this fall. You can complete distances at home, or around campus. Please contact the Fitness Floor office with any questions.

Is your organization or department in need of new technology and equipment? Technology grant applications are now available in the SGA office in Powell 132. In cooperation with EKU IT, the Student Senate awards grants from a portion of the revenue generated by the student technology fee. This program is open to all areas of the University community. Requests for funding must be received in the SGA Office no later than 5:00 pm on Thursday, Oct. 15. The funding meeting will take place on November 3rd. Organization and department representatives are not required to attend the funding meeting.

The EKU Office of Academic Testing offers the CLEP test. The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) helps you receive college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. The test is great for people with prior work experience in certain fields, home-schooled students, high school graduates, AP students who tested close to the required score and Military Personnel. Developed by the College Board, CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program. Pass any of the 33 CLEP exams and achieve your college and career goals. We offer the test at least two times a month; we have practice tests to help preparation and signing up is fast and easy.
