Alternative Spring Breaks (ASB) are trips where you can travel to another community, learn about social issues, and volunteer with local nonprofits assisting in the good work they are doing. This is EKU ASB's 10th Anniversary, and it promises to be more exciting and rewarding than ever. ASBs go to amazing locations like Washington DC, Miami, New Orleans, and more! On an ASB, you will tackle and learn about issues like food security, disaster recovery, and violence prevention among youth. ASBs are a great way to make a difference in the world, gain leadership experience, and create memories that will last a life time! We are happy to announce that CLASS is offering a $500 stipend to the graduating student chosen to give a speech at the Spring 2017 Commencement Ceremony!
To be eligible students must have applied for Spring 2017 or Summer 2017 graduation within the College of Letters, Arts, & Social Sciences. • Speeches should be 10 minutes/5-6 pages of double-spaced text
• MSWord or Rich Text Format, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, with normal one-inch margins.
• At the top of your text, include your full name, EKU ID number, major, expected degree, and department Submit speeches before the end of day Friday, March 3, by sending an e-mail attachment of the text to Dr. Amy Thieme (amy.thieme@eku.edu). Please include your available times for March 30, between 3:30 & 5:00 p.m. so that, if you are chosen as a finalist, we can schedule your interview.

The Vagina Monologues is EKU Women and Gender Studies' annual activist event to assist Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center, Hope's Wings Domestic Violence Program, and the V-Day Foundation. Before and after each performance, we will be offering t-shirts, buttons, and our ever-popular chocolate vagina pops for sale in the lobby sponsored by The Alphabet Center. Box office opens at 6pm each night of the performance February 15, 16, 17. On Thursday, February 16, ASL interpreters will be present.

The IT Geeks are creating a video to introduce students to technology here at EKU. Everyone knows that technology is imperative for student success, and we would like current students to share their experience using EKU Tech so that incoming Freshman will know what to expect. The IT Geeks will be doing short, 15-30 second interviews of students from 10-1pm on February 24th in the Library Atrium. If you would like to get yourself out there and help future students, we would love to have a statement from you! If you cannot make it to our interviews, we can also set up individual interviews.
