The Alphabet Center will be sponsoring a free educational Green Dot Presentation tonight that all students are welcome to attend. Green Dot is a proven success in educating college students on how to be proactive and reactive regarding power-based personal violence, an occurrence that is higher in the LGBTQ community. Donate your textbooks! EKU's chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon, the Geography Honor Society, is collecting Textbooks for Africa. We are working through the non-profit www.booksforafrica.org.
We have FOUR drop off locations: Roark 211, Moore 320, Dizney 208, and inside the Admissions Office in the Whitlock building. If you would like us to pick up books for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Many courses at African colleges and universities are taught in English. The subject areas in most need are social sciences, humanities, technology, business, natural sciences, engineering, biological sciences, and agriculture (but other textbooks are also welcome!). Books more than 15 years old, magazines, academic journals, religious books, novels, paperback books, encyclopedias, and books focused on the U.S. (i.e. U.S. history or law) are not needed. Steve Baker, animal studies pioneer, artist, author and critic will present his Chautauqua lecture and Keynote Address for the 3rd Biennial “Living With Animals” Conference, on the topic, “The Disorderly Animal in Contemporary Art,” tonight at 7:30 PM in O'Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building. Free and open to the public. Attendance slips provided.
Dr. Steve Baker is Emeritus Professor of Art History at the University of Central Lancashire in England and a trustee of the Norfolk Contemporary Art Society. A seminal figure in the field of Animal Studies, Baker is the author, most recently, of "ARTIST|ANIMAL," in addition to many previous books including "The Postmodern Animal" and "Picturing the Beast: Animals, Identity, and Representation." To help celebrate RecycleMania, the EKU Office of Sustainability is hosting EKU's 1st ever cardboard fort building competition in the Powell Plaza on Mar. 29 at 5:00 PM.
We're looking for 6 teams of up to 6 people each to work together in the time allotted (30 min) to construct the biggest, most stylish, and homey cardboard fort from the pile of boxes provided and a smidge of tape.
Your team will be competing against the rest on the following criteria:
Size - let's make it huge
Creativity - think outside "the box"
Durability - we'll put it to the test...
Prizes: All participants will receive a small token of our gratitude and the winning team will take home an extra cool prize... stay tuned for more details!

The EKU-led BGS IC CAE will host the 3rd Annual Kentucky Intelligence Colloquium on April 7th at the University of Kentucky. The colloquium theme is asymmetric warfare and intelligence. Colloquium events will include student poster presentations, IC CAE Scholar student presentation panel, keynote and guest speakers, and additional panels on topics related to the colloquium theme. Complimentary shuttle service will be provided to students interested in attending. The colloquium is attended by faculty, staff, and students from BGS IC CAE-associated universities, professionals in the intelligence and national security fields, private sector organizations, and federal, state, and local government officials.
