Come support EKU's PGM program by participating in our annual 3-v-3 Basketball Tournament April 8 in Weaver Gym. Games begin at 10 am. All proceedings will support EKU's Relay for Life event. Bunraku Bay Puppet Theater, the only troupe in the US that performs the traditional Japanese puppetry, will present an evening of puppet theater on stage and a screening of the short film “Kaiju Bunraku” (14 minutes), one of the films selected for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, which features the artistry of Bunraku Bay. Free and open to the public, the performance will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, in O’Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building. It will feature four pieces of traditional Japanese puppetry suitable for all ages, kindergarten and up, followed by a screening of “Kaiju Bunraku” and a Q&A, including an opportunity for audience members to see the puppets close up. Proof of attendance will be provided. Sponsored by EKU Asian Studies, which offers a minor (18 credits) and a certificate (12 credits). The 31st annual International Banquet is two weeks away! There will variety of dishes as well as singing and dances performed by EKU's international students. Do you still need one credit hour? The third section of REC 101 (Recreation & Tourism Careers) begins April 4th. This 5 week course is an introduction to the broad scope of careers and employment in recreation, park and tourism services. Tomorrow, enjoy an evening with Kentucky Poet Laureate George Ella Lyon. Her current project is entitled, “The Poetry of Witness," which includes poems and a song written in response to our collective moment—some inspired by the media and others by children Lyon has met on school visits. Lyon is author of works for children, teens, and adults, including: "Where I'm From," "A Kentucky Christmas," "The Pirate of Kindergarten," "Borrowed Children," and more. Refreshments to be provided.
