African/African-American Studies is going to Washington D.C. October 15-17th. Join us as we visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Mall. Bestselling author and sociologist Sara Goldrick-Rab will discuss “The Transformation of Higher Education: The New Economics of College and Their Consequences,” Thurs. Sept 7, 7:30 p.m. in O’Donnell Hall, in the first lecture of the 2017-18 Chautauqua "Transformations" series. Free and open to the public. Attendance slips provided. Hailed as “one of the top 50 people shaping American politics” (Politico Magazine), Sara Goldrick-Rab is the author of “Paying the Price: College Costs, Financial Aid, and the Betrayal of the American Dream.” She has been featured on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, in the New York Review of Books and on CSPAN’s Book TV. The Noel Studio seeks to fill a graduate assistant position starting this fall! There is will be a weekly tournament for Smash Bros. 4 every Thursday during the Fall semester. There will be both a free bracket and a pay to enter bracket. The winners of the paid bracket will receive cash payout and the winner of the free bracket will receive free entry into the paid bracket the following week. The brackets will be double elimination. It is recommended to bring your own controller, but there will be spare GameCube controllers for participants to use.
