I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream...and Service! The members of Alpha Phi Omega are hosting an ice-cream social that is free to all students who are interested in learning about community service opportunities offered through our organization. We are a nationally recognized, co-ed (male & female), community service fraternity. We are founded upon the principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. Our chapter is seeking service-minded people to potentially join our organization and its program of servant leadership. Internationally recognized physicist Sylvester James Gates Jr. will present a Chautauqua keynote address for Celebration of Science and Mathematics Week titled "Einstein v. Roberts: Does Diversity Matter in Science?", on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in O'Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building. The event is free and open to the public. Attendance slips will be provided for students. Currently the Ford Foundation Professor of Physics at Brown University, Dr. Gates is one of the most distinguished scientists in America. A pioneer in the fields of supersymmetry, supergravity, and superstring theory, Gates is the author of "Superspace," the first major book on the subject, as well as "Superstring Theory: the DNA of Reality." He has served on the President's Council on Science & Technology, was awarded the National Medal of Science in 2013, and was named "Scientist of the Year" by the Harvard Foundation in 2014.

Advanced manufacturing is a key capability for enabling sustainable, long-duration human spaceflight missions. In this talk Dr. Tracie Prater will provide a broad overview of NASA technology development efforts in the areas of manufacturing for space, in-space, and on the planetary surface. Dr. Prater will also discuss her background and personal journey to her current role at NASA. This presentation is one of the activities of the the Celebration of Science and Mathematics Week.

These events will honor the heroes who have served their communities and nation since the tragic events which took place on September 11th, 2001.
