Come join EKU Women & Gender Studies, the Dept of Languages, Cultures & Humanities, and Veterans Studies in welcoming EKU 2010 Alumni Jacob Eleazer to campus this evening, October 26th. Jacob will be discussing Transgender Inclusion in the U.S. Military at 5:00pm in Keen Johnson 2. Follow up meeting will be happening with The Alphabet Center at 8:00pm in Weaver 305. Proof of attendance and light refreshments will be provided!

Would your department or student organization be able to complete projects more effectively and efficiently if access to technology related items were available? If so, you may be interested in learning more about SGA's IT grant funding. In cooperation with EKU IT, the Student Senate awards grants from a portion of the revenue generated by the Student Technology fee. This program is open to all areas of the University community. IT grant applications for 2017-2018 are now available in the SGA office in room 132 of the Powell Building. Completed application packets are due back to SGA no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2017. No application will be accepted after the November 3rd deadline date and time. EKU’s Honors Theatre Fraternity, Alpha Psi Omega, hosts monthly Cabarets to showcase talent across campus. October’s Cabaret will be Halloween themed with a Murder-Mystery structure. Anybody can perform at Cabaret! Acts will be broken up by improvised skits. Come out for a night of murder, mystery, and intrigue... Admission to the event starts at $1, though you may pay more if you wish. All proceeds from the event go to Alpha Psi Omega.

Join us for a celebration of the Asian Mid-Autumn Festival on Friday, October 27, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. in Kennamer Room of the Powell Building. Free food, games, and entertainment. Sponsored by the Asian Studies Program, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and the Student Government Association at EKU. TODAY: Building off the previous U.S. Department of State event, Dr. Robert Farley from the University of Kentucky (UK) Patterson School for Diplomacy and International Commerce will provide a guest lecture on careers in international relations. Attendees will also learn how numerous degree programs at BGS IC CAE participating universities can help students enter this exciting and rewarding career field. IC CAE Scholars will receive one (1) participation point for attending this event.

Based on groundbreaking investigative reporting, A Day’s Work (documentary, 2015) reshaped perceptions of temp work and our safety on the job. The film screened at more than 100 public events across the country with unions, universities, government agencies, and community groups, raising the question to all working people, “What are we getting for a day’s work?” The film examines the landmark workplace death of 21-year-old Lawrence DaQuan “Day” Davis through the eyes of his family and the analysis of experts. Day was an employee of a temporary staffing agency working at the Bacardi bottling plant in Jacksonville Florida in 2012. He was killed 90 minutes into the first day of the job - the first job of his life. An investigation reveals the troubling issues that led to Day's death and how the $100 billion temporary staffing industry is putting millions of American workers at risk.
