The deadline for submitting Information Technology grant applications for the 2017-2018 academic year is 12:00 pm Thursday, November 9th. No application will be accepted after 12:00 pm. The funding meeting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 14th at 7:00 pm in the Whitlock Building Welcome Center. Zhikang Shi, translator of a new version of The Analects of Confucius and Professor of English Language and Literature at Shanghai International Studies University, will speak at Eastern Kentucky University on Wednesday, November 8. His lecture, titled “Cultural Elements of Confucianism in Cross-Cultural Communication,” will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 108 (Dick Mayo Allen Auditorium) of the John Grant Crabbe Main Library. Free and open to the public, the event is presented by the EKU Asian Studies Program and sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky, the EKU Department of Communication, and the EKU Department of Philosophy and Religion. EKU’s Asian Studies Program offers a minor (18 credits) and a certificate (12 credits). Author and EKU alumn Jabril Goodner revisits the school that fueled his passions. Join Jabril for a very special lecture that is sure to inspire you in the next direction of your career. Finally learn how to manifest success and fulfill your great purpose in life. Jabril Goodner is a graduate of the philosophy program at EKU. By building strong relationships with the faculty and staff at the university he was able to maximize the benefits of an incredible education. Jabril went on to teach in New York, lecture in universities and boutiques across the east coast, write two philosophy books, and established his own Media & Marketing firm all within one year of graduating. Jabril is passionate about giving back to his communities and plans to collaborate with institutions around the world. Proof of attendance will be provided.

Are you looking for ways to give back this Holiday Season? Psi Chi and Psychology Club are sponsoring a food drive for the Colonels Cupboard throughout the month of November. The Colonels Cupboard is a wonderful service that provides essential items such as food and toiletries for free to EKU students who need them. Online instruction & course travel (Jan 3-10) to coastal Georgia for Natural, Cultural & Historical Experiences, Visit Georgia Sea Turtle Center, St Simons Lighthouse, Driftwood Beach, and more, completed a Wildlife related service learning project.
