Zhikang Shi, translator of a new version of The Analects of Confucius and Professor of English Language and Literature at Shanghai International Studies University, will speak at Eastern Kentucky University on Wednesday, November 8. His lecture, titled “Cultural Elements of Confucianism in Cross-Cultural Communication,” will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 108 (Dick Mayo Allen Auditorium) of the John Grant Crabbe Main Library. Free and open to the public, the event is presented by the EKU Asian Studies Program and sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky, the EKU Department of Communication, and the EKU Department of Philosophy and Religion. EKU’s Asian Studies Program offers a minor (18 credits) and a certificate (12 credits). By building strong relationships with the faculty and staff at the university he was able to maximize the benefits of an incredible education. Jabril went on to teach in New York, lecture in universities and boutiques across the east coast, write two philosophy books, and established his own Media & Marketing firm all within one year of graduating.
