Student Activities Council will be sponsoring a concert by The Filharmonic on Friday, Nov. 17th at 7:00 pm in Brock Auditorium.
The Filharmonic, an LA-based a cappella group of Filipino-American performers were featured in NBC’S hit musical competition, The Sing-Off, and they have much to sing about. The 5-piece vocal group made the semi-finals, joined The Sing-Off national tour, and were featured in the Universal Pictures hit movie, Pitch Perfect 2, setting off a viral sensation after their Late Late Show appearance. In 2016, The Filharmonic brought their unique blend of hip hop, pop and 90'S nostalgia to more than 150 college stages nationwide and was named the #1 college booked entertainment group of the year.
No ticket is necessary. Seating will be on a first-come, first serve basis. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. The first 50 students through the door will receive a free glow bracelet.

The event is tonight (Nov. 16th) at 6:00 pm in the Keen Johnson Ballroom. Tickets are $5.00 each or $8.00 for two and includes the cost of a meal as well as participation in solving the comedy murder mystery.

It's that time of the year for "The Greatest Show on Earth." Alpha Omicron Pi is hosting the annual Lip Sync event benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. EKU Chautauqua presents Kelli Carmean on the subject of the intersection of her anthropological research and her new novel, "The House of the Waterlily," tonight, Thurs. Nov. 16 7:30 PM in O'Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building, in a talk titled, "Mayan Transformations: Historical Fact and Creative Fiction," which serves as EKU's Native American Heritage Keynote. Free and open to the Public. Attendance slips provided.
Dr. Carmean is EKU Foundation Professor 2017-19 and Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology, Sociology & Social Work. She joined the EKU faculty in 1993, served as Anthropology Coordinator from 2003 to 2010, and as department chair from 2009 to 2015. She currently acts as faculty liaison for the University’s Education Abroad program and is active in the Kentucky Institute for International Studies, teaching and directing programs in Peru and Barcelona. EKU's Honors Theatre Fraternity, Alpha Psi Omega presents "RuPaul's William Shakespeare's Drag Cabaret"!
APO puts on monthly Cabarets in order to showcase talent across campus. November's Cabaret is a drag variety show in the spirit of RuPaul's Drag Race mixed with traditional Shakespearean attire and dialogue.
Acts will be broken up by improvised skits that adhere to the theme.
Admission to the event is $1. There will be a virgin bar serving refreshments at an additional cost along with other activities in the Pearl Buchanan Theatre starting at 9pm with the show starting at 10pm. In order to better serve EKU students, the Scholarships Office has moved inside the Office of Financial Assistance, located within Whitlock Building, Room 251. The offices were previously located on two separate floors, and this is the first time both offices are in the same location. Students for Social Justice has partnered with Kentuckians for the Commonwealth to host a letter writing event that gives students and faculty an opportunity to write letters to their representatives and have a voice! We will have examples of current topics and policies, but feel free to write about anything. There will also be a table to register to vote.
