Jeff McNeil will give a “Colonel Perspective” on “Life, Love, and Work in China” when he returns to his alma mater, EKU, to speak on Monday, Feb. 19.
McNeil’s talk, at 4 p.m. in the Allen Auditorium (Room 108) of the Crabbe Main Library, is presented by EKU Asian Studies.
McNeil, who earned degrees in philosophy and English from EKU in 2008, is the academic principal at Liangfeng International School in China.
“I’ll discuss my journey into Asia, the culture shock that I went through, as well as what it’s like to live, love, and work in China,” McNeil said. “I’ll reflect on Chinese culture as I’ve grown to understand it, reverse culture shock each time I returned to the U.S., and how I’ve grown as a professional and as a person.”

The Bluegrass State Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (BGS IC CAE) will screen the documentary Spymasters: CIA in the Crosshairs. The documentary dives into the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) through interviews with former CIA directors and other agency officials about controversial topics. In addition to the screening, Dr. Brian Simpkins will discuss the Intelligence Studies Program at EKU, the BGS IC CAE, and careers in the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). Refreshments will be provided to all attendees. This event is free and open to the entire EKU community.
