Volunteers are needed for a variety of shifts from Wed., March 21 through Sat., March 24 related to EKU hosting the Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair. Weeknight volunteers are needed in Dizney for organizing registration materials. Friday volunteers are needed for covering tables, posting signage, safety inspections of displays and registration. Saturday volunteers are needed for safety checks, registration, distributing lunch, award printing, and making campus guests feel welcome. Thank you letters documenting service can be sent to national offices or individuals. Saturday volunteers receive a t-shirt and lunch. The Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair is one of EKU's best opportunities to showcase our campus and the work of Kentucky’s best and brightest students in grades 5-12. This is an enjoyable experience for all. To volunteer or see available shifts, email Jamie Hisel at jamie.hisel@eku.edu.

•Select “Foundation Scholarship Application” to complete e-application
•Complete all fields and upload two letters of recommendation, any optional essays, or work verifications before submitting to our office
•We will not accept any paper or emailed recommendation letters other than through the application
•Deadline – April 15th
•Incomplete applications will not be considered
•All completed applicants will receive a notification email of their award status once reviewed for all scholarships

"Literacy in the Digital Age: Transformations of the Reading Brain"

Maryanne Wolf is "Global Literacy" Fellow at Stanford University (2017-18), the John DiBiaggio Professor of Citizenship and Public Service and Director of the Center for Reading and Language Research at Tufts University. The author of dozens of articles on the psychology of reading and related areas of dyslexia, linguistics, neuroscience, cognition and child development, Dr. Wolf has written several books, including the critically acclaimed "Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain" (Harper Collins 2008), which has been translated into 13 languages; "Tales of Literacy for the 21st Century" (Oxford University Press 2016); and "Reader, Come Home: The Reading Brain in a Digital World" (forthcoming, Harper Collins 2018).

Vince Coakley was honored as an Distinguished EKU Alumnus in the Department of Communication in 2005 and the Winner of South Carolina Broadcaster's Association Radio Show of the Year in 2017. Vince began his broadcasting career as a teenager in Newark, DE. At age sixteen his first job was as a DJ while still a junior in high school. Later he would transition into radio news when he pursued his Broadcasting degree at EKU. Join Vince for a Meet & Greet in Case Dining Hall from 5:30-6:30pm. Sign-in at cashier under the event name Diversity Office.

Silent Coffee is a social where we meet in the upstairs room at Purdy's Coffee Co. Here American Sign Language (ASL) is used to communicate and socialize with people who are deaf and hearing. Signers of all levels are encouraged to attend, socialize, and develop their skills!
