Come join us on Spring Break (March 12th-16th) for canoeing, camping and hiking at Congaree National Park in South Carolina! We will be exploring it both on foot and by water. The park offers over 25 miles of various hiking trails for us to explore as well as the Congaree river to canoe. The cost for this trip is only $190! All Campus Recreation Adventure Program Trips include food, transportation and all gear necessary for the adventure. Time of departure is dependent upon your schedule. We also can assist with any dietary restriction to ensure you have the best trip possible. All trips are student run by certified medically trained guides.

The College of Science is offering a $500 stipend to a graduating student to present a commencement speech at the Spring 2018 Graduation Ceremony. To be eligible, you must have applied for Spring or Summer 2018 Graduation within the College of Science.
•Speeches should be about 5-6 minutes in length/4-6 pages of double-spaced text.
•MS Word or Rich Text Format, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, with normal one-inch margins
•At the top of your text, please include your full name, EKU ID number, major, expected degree, and department.
Submit speeches before the end of the day Friday, March 23, by sending an e-mail attachment of the text to Jessica Hawksley (mailto:jessica.hawksley@eku.edu) .
Please include your class and work schedule for April 2-6th, so that, if you are chosen as a finalist, we can schedule your interview.

The 17th annual University Presentation Showcase will be held on Friday, April 13. For the UP Showcase, undergraduate and graduate students and their faculty/staff mentors can share their work with the public. Students in all departments who have collaborated with faculty/staff on scholarly and/or creative projects are invited to participate.
Projects may include artwork, original writing, research and other scholarly/creative work. For students, projects that go beyond a classroom assignment are most appropriate, although there are exceptions, e.g. senior theses.
If you already have a project completed, please go to https://encompass.eku.edu/swps/ to submit your work!
Students must have collaborated on the project with a faculty or staff mentor, who must approve the abstract before submission.
Deadline for abstract submission is March 9, 2018.

It's RecycleMania time again! Each week EKU will be reporting our weights of landfill waste, recycled paper, bottles, and cans for the duration of the 8 week competition.
EKU is competing on the following criteria:
1. Landfill diversion rate (%)
2. Total weight of recyclables recovered (lbs)
3. Total weight of recyclables recovered per person (lbs/person)
You can do your part by recycling to the maximum extent possible (and encouraging your friends to do the same) and participating in resident hall recycling programs and activities! :)
