Waltz part II will be taught in Weaver Dance Studio from 9:00-10:00 pm Today! If you missed Part I last week, don't worry. You can still attend regardless of skill level or previous experience. Following the lesson there will be an open dance from 10:00-11:00 pm. You are invited!

Volunteers from all majors can join us at various times from Wed. 3/21 through Sat. 3/24 for tasks related to EKU hosting the Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair. Weeknight volunteers are needed in Dizney for organizing registration packets. Friday volunteers are needed to number tables, post signage, do safety inspections of displays and to support registration. Saturday volunteers are needed for safety checks, registration, distributing lunch, award printing, and welcoming guests. Thank you letters can be sent to individuals or national offices. Saturday volunteers receive a t-shirt and lunch. The Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair is one of EKU's best opportunities to showcase our campus and the work of Kentucky’s best and brightest students in grades 5-12. This is an enjoyable experience for all. To volunteer or see available shifts, email Jamie Hisel at jamie.hisel@eku.edu.

Since Spring 2014, all student participants who participate in the Alternative Service Breaks (ASB) program or other community service opportunities have had the opportunity to enroll in REC 300, “Civic Engagement Experiences” through the Department of Recreation and Park Administration. This course is designed for Alternative Breaks and other Significant Service Projects where Students engage in structured civic engagement activities that include the opportunity to complete necessary community or agency projects, engage in dialogue with various community or agency representatives, and work toward the goal of enhancing the local environment or community.
This course is designed as a community-based learning experience through which participants will explore the relationship between citizenship, servant leadership, personal values, and career goals.

The Welch Appalachian Social & Economic Justice Lecture Series will present “She Sure is a Bird: Black Women and Mental Health in Appalachia ” by Crystal Wilkinson. Crystal Wilkinson is the author of The Birds of Opulence (winner of the 2016 Ernest J. Gaines Prize for Literary Excellence, the Weatherford Prize for Appalachian Fiction and Judy Gaines Prize), Water Street & Blackberries, Blackberries. Nominated for both the Orange Prize and Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, she has received recognition from The Ky. Foundation for Women, The Ky. Arts Council, The Mary Anderson Center for the Arts, The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and is a recipient of the Chaffin Award for Appalachian Literature.
